If you've already decided to take making a profit from betting on horse racing seriously by choosing to follow the selections of a proven tipster – then the next big step is finding the right tipster for you.
It's a decision that shouldn't be taken lightly, and one that should be based on accurate data.
The Tipster League provides you with that data. The most important thing for us as a business is that punters just like you trust our data and can achieve the types of tipster-profits quoted on our website. Your success ultimately determines our success – and our aim is to be successful together!
That's why The Tipster League has put measures in place that allow the profits we quote to be achievable. These measures also allow for full transparency regarding all tipsters available through The Tipster League.
These measures include us only accepting odds available with major bookmakers. These bookmakers include Bet365, Betfair, Betfred, BetVictor, Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Sky Bet, and William Hill. However, we fully encourage you to take higher-prices with other bookmakers if you can, but these additional-profits won't be shown in our results.
We also don't accept standout prices because that increases the chance of only a few punters being able to get the top-price before its slashed. Therefore, the best-price quoted on a selection must be available with at least two major bookmakers before it’s quoted in a tipster's results.
Bookmakers who form part of the same company will also not be regarded as two separate bookmakers. For example, Paddy Power and Betfair will be counted as one bookmaker, as will Ladbrokes and Corals.
To make sure prices are accurate, the moment a tip is logged with The Tipster League we take a screenshot of all the available odds. We then use this to determine the best price available with at least two major bookmakers and enter this price in our database.
Example 1:
Dragstone Rock is quoted at 16/1 with both Ladbrokes and Coral but, as we mentioned earlier, these two bookmakers are owned by the same company. We class this is a standout price, therefore we move on to the next best price. However, we don’t accept odds quoted by SportingBet or SportPesa so we move on again to the next best price which is 12/1, available with Bet365, SkyBet, Betfair and PaddyPower, and is the price that this selection will be recorded at.
Example 2:
War Chief is a best-priced 11/2 with SportingBet but, as that’s the only bookmaker offering that price and we don't accept odds from SportingBet, this standout price will not be quoted in our figures. The price that will be used is the 5/1 that is available with BetVictor & PaddyPower.
Example 3
A tipster has recommended backing Be Daring and Bold Prediction in a double, Bet365 and SunBets are offering a price of 13.5 or 12.5/1 about it. However, this is a standout price as we don’t accept prices quoted by SunBets, so we move on to the next best price, which is with 10Bet & SportPesa. We don't accept those bookmakers either, so again we move on to the next best price, which is available with WilliamHill. This price is lower, but we’d expect most punters to be able to get on at this price – so this is the price recorded.
The Tipster League has also decided to only accept tips on British, Irish and UAE Racing, as other International Horse Racing Markets are seldom priced-up by enough bookmakers for selections to adhere to our stringent rules. The other reason for not recommending selections in weak International Markets is that success in these markets catches the attention of the bookmakers and can lead to accounts being closed.
The Tipster League also deducts all Rule 4 Deductions from its figures as this is a true reflection of prices and profits. Not all tipster sites take this into consideration.
Why do we take these steps when proofing tipsters? Because The Tipster League was made by punters for punters – and we want 100% of our members to be 100% satisfied with their choice of tipster.
